Hizbullah official Ibrahim Amin al-Sayyed said Monday that he agreed with Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan on the importance of consolidating unity among the country's rival political parties.
Al-Sayyed, who visited Daryan at the head of a Hizbullah delegation, told reporters after the meeting that the two sides “agreed on the importance of consolidating unity, dialogue, understating and cooperation among the political parties in Lebanon.”
The delegation's visit was aimed at congratulating Daryan on his new post.
The 61-year-old Sheikh was unanimously elected in August as the country's new Grand Mufti succeeding Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani.
“Lebanon and the Lebanese are facing the growing threat of terrorist groups,” said al-Sayyed, adding that he talked with Daryan about the issue and about the developments in the country and the region.
“We exchanged viewpoints on these issues and discussed the policies we should adopt,” he added.
