Lebanese Soldier Injured After Israeli Army Fired in Shebaa

A Lebanese soldier on Sunday was injured in a shooting from Israel near Kfarshouba, prompting a retaliatory shooting from the Lebanese military.

The army stated: "One of the army positions was fired at in al-Sudana in the area of Shebaa by one of the Israeli positions on the opposite side that led to a non-hazardous injury of a soldier."

Al-Manar stated that: “The Lebanese soldier at al-Sudana post was injured in the hand and was taken to hospital.”

“The Lebanese army clashed with an Israeli unit that tried to enter Lebanese territories through the al-Sudana heights in the area of Shebaa,” it added.

“The army informed the UNIFIL about the Lebanese soldier injured after Israeli soldiers fired at al-Sudana and tranquility is back to the town,” said al-Jadeed.

An Israeli surveillance drone crashed on September 20 in the town of Sarda in the Marjeyoun district.

Israel frequently flies drones over Lebanese territories in what Lebanese authorities say are violations of the country's sovereignty and United Nations Security Council resolution 1701.

In February, an MK surveillance drone crashed near the U.N.-drawn Blue Line close to the southern town of Mays al-Jabal.

Israeli troops at the time crossed the border into Lebanon in order to retrieve parts of the drone.
