The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch denied on Monday that two of its members were wounded when chasing a wanted man in the northern town of Shekka.
“News about the injury of the Intelligence Branch members are not true,†said the ISF on twitter.
The denial came after the state-run National News Agency said a police patrol was pursuing Talal Kanj on the main road in Shekka when its members engaged in a fistfight with him.
The clash turned into a gunfight, leading to the injury of the two ISF members, the agency said.
It did not say if their injuries were life-threatening.
Kanj, who hails from the town of Hboush, was able to escape. But the members of the patrol impounded his black Kia Picanto, the agency added.
