Two Syrians were arrested on Monday evening in the city of Jbeil on suspicion of belonging to "terrorist groups."
“Members of the Jbeil police station arrested the Syrians Abbas Jasem al-Fadel, 27, and Abdullah Ahmed al-Hussein, 32, on suspicion of their belonging to terrorist groups,” state-run National News Agency reported.
“Pictures of various weapons and flags of a terrorist group were found on their cellphones,” NNA added.
They were referred to the Internal Security Forces' Intelligence Bureau for further investigations, the agency said.
The country has been witnessing a growing security crackdown on Syrian residents and refugees since the deadly Arsal battle in August between the army and jihadists from al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State.
Dozens of Syrians and Lebanese citizens have been arrested in the campaign.
