Spanish Police Free Moroccan Migrants Held for Ransom

Spanish police said Saturday they had freed two Moroccan migrants who were kidnapped as soon as they entered Spain illegally by ferry and who were being beaten and held for ransom.

The two men smuggled themselves into a ferry in Tangier bound for the southern Spanish port of Algeciras in early October by clinging to the undercarriage of a freight truck that boarded the boat, police said in a statement.

Turkey Hunts Four IS Militants amid Attack Fears

Turkish security forces are searching for four suspected members of the Islamic State (IS) group thought to have entered the country from Syria to carry out attacks, local media said Saturday. 

The four, including a German woman, reportedly belong to the same group as the suicide bombers who struck in Ankara earlier this month, killing 102 people in the deadliest attack in modern Turkish history.

A female suicide bomber on Saturday blew herself up in the northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, killing three people and injuring many others, residents said.

Maldives Arrests Vice President over Plot to Assassinate President

Maldivian authorities on Saturday arrested the nation's Vice President Ahmed Adeeb over an alleged plot to assassinate President Abdulla Yameen, who escaped death after his boat was hit by a bomb last month, the home minister said.

"VP Adheeb under arrest and held in Dhoonidhoo Detention (prison island)," Umar Naseer said on Twitter, using a different spelling of the vice president's name. "Charges: high treason."

Death Toll from Pakistan Shiites Blast Rises to 24

The death toll from a suspected suicide blast which targeted Shiite Muslims in the southern Pakistani city of Jacobabad has risen to 24, a provincial minister said Saturday.

The officials had earlier confirmed that at least 16 people were killed and many more injured in the attack outside the residence of a local Shiite leader, which came as devotees were setting off towards a main procession in the city.
